Sunday Linkage: Girls, Girls, Girls

Hope the East Coasters among you stayed safe and dry while Irene blew through town this weekend. The situation here in New York was totally overhyped but I was actually happy to be forced indoors for a change, due to the total shutdown of all businesses and public transportation. It allowed me to slow down and indulge in an epic movie marathon (Objectified, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Cry Baby, Dorothy and Herb, Winter's Bone and the second season of Eastbound & Down were all watched in the last 36 hours). Irene also coerced me into putting an end to my nearly two-month blogging hiatus. So, let's make up and kick off the week with Sunday Linkage, featuring a few of my favorite girls:

I came across this Xavier Miserachs photo last year after a friend posted in on Facebook, and haven't been able to get it out of my head since.  I just had to look up the Catalan photographer and his subject, gypsy flamenco dancer Antoñita La Singla. While I discovered a treasure trove of gorgeous flamenco photos from the 60s, I couldn't uncover much about La Singla herself. However, I did find this riveting flamenco performance, which confirms what the photograph suggests: the transfixing power of her movement, which conveys passion gone wild with remarkable control.

I've long been a fan of fashion photographer Camilla Akrans, and this shot, from an editorial in the January 2010 issue of Vogue Germany, is one of my favorites. I love the color treatment, and how she captured and conveyed a Bardot-esque sensuality simply by using shadow and light to highlight the model's lines and thick blonde mane.
