After Christmas Sales

In addition to Black Friday (which now starts before Thanksgiving) and Super Saturday, the retail world has After Christmas sales. I shouldn't complain about savings, but competitive retailing has gotten out of control, and by now, shoppers have grown inured to sale signs, email blasts, and the like. If you're curious, I suggest you avoid the crowds and shop from your desktop. Bargain shoppers are savages a different kind of consumer, and unless you're ready to be jostled and pummeled to the ground for deeply discounted Christmas ornaments, you'd do better to stay indoors, where you'll find some great deals online.

Neiman Marcus is offering 25% off already reduced items, plus free shipping for orders over $150 with the code NMSHOP at checkout. It's a great time to buy a coat, since you'll have three more months of wear to get out of it. Some suggestions:

The Impulse Buy:
Juicy Couture hooded fleece coat, was $277. Extra 25% off applied at checkout. As you very well know, I don't normally do Juicy, but this coat is actually very cute.

The Wardrobe Staple:
Rag & Bone navy trench coat, was $460. Discount taken at checkout.

The Investment Piece:
Valentino Red metallized trench coat, was $995, then $697. Extra 25% off applied at checkout.

Other noteworthy sales and markdowns:

The Saks Fifth Avenue sale
is probably the best value, with ridiculous discounts on designer apparel (think discounted Burberry trenches, Marc Jacobs at 75% off, and Prada pumps for under $200). One day only, though -- prices go up tomorrow.

Jake has select items for 60% off and is also offering a 20% discount on non-sale merch with promo code "jakeholiday."

Revolve Clothing has new markdowns of up to 75% off.

Maneater Threads
is offering 10% off sitewide through January 2nd, but you get an additional 20% off when you enter HOLIDAYS at checkout.
