Island Life

Images from the last photo shoot I worked on for Coutorture are up. We shot this at my rooftop pool on a scorching, blindingly bright summer day. Our model, Colleen Burst (Red), was such a sweet girl, and makeup artist Tim Fischetti wanted to embrace her lovely freckles which, lamentably, are all too often covered up. Our Holga-loving photographer Robert Malmberg actually got in the pool himself and at one point, found himself treading water in the deep end while trying to capture a shot. We feared for the safety of his camera (and that of a $3,000 Dolce & Gabbana bag), but it all turned out okay and we wrapped just in time to watch the sun set against the Manhattan skyline. Our fashion editor Meg Zanke chose one-pieces from Salt, Jets by Jessica Allen, and Old Navy (a surprisingly chic brown one-piece -- who knew?), which we paired with luxe accessories from Dolce, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Minkoff, and Andrea Brueckner.
